“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” – Matthew 24:36
The LORD Jesus spoke this to the disciples which was intended to create a sense of perpetual urgent waiting within the Church has become it’s most popularly quoted verse to induce complacency. Instead of urgency, “No one knows the day or hour” has become “live as though it were not going to happen”. We mirror the world, in our hearts we truly believe it will be one day but not our day. In one sense that’s understandable, it has been a long age for the Church, for Israel in exile until 1948 as well. So I do not want to beat down too hard on this or on anyone.
I will be honest I have not found this out until recently that the verse may hold more weight than we thought. Instead of it being a metaphorical throwing up of the hands in “Nobody knows”, what if it is an arrow to a specific period, or as we have it a specific Jewish holiday. As it turns out, in Jewish culture there is an ancient saying about The Feast of Trumpets also known as Rosh Hashanah. The saying is of The Feast of Trumpets, “nobody knows the day or hour”. This comes from the fact the holiday cannot just be planned, it must be physically observed to begin. Two Witnesses must view the light of the new moon in order for the Feast to begin.
Now that’s great but there have been approximately 1,992 Feast of Trumpet’s since Jesus ascended into heaven. What makes this next one so different? For one, Israel became a nation again in 1948 and is 77 years old now, completion and completion. 2033 marks the 2,000th year since Jesus ascended into Heaven. If you believe in a 6,000 year old creation to this point just as God showed us in creation there are 6 days of work and 1 day of rest. 2033 should begin the Sabbath rest of the LORD on Earth, the Millennial reign of Christ. As we know there are approximately 7 years of Tribulation before the Second Coming of Christ to establish His millennial reign on Earth. Which means go approximately 7 years back and you’re at 2026 right? Well, the problem is if you assume the LORD will return during a Feast of Trumpets the 2026 Feast of Trumpets is AFTER the 7 year mark in 2026. Which means if the Feast of Trumpets in 2026 was the rapture, Jesus would be late for the millennial reign and it would have been greater than 2,000 before His reign begins. I just don’t think God the Father is bad at math or planning like that.
If you use Rosh Hashanah The Feast of Trumpets 2025 as the Resurrection of the Dead and the Rapture. The Tribulation would start September 23rd-24th 2025 at approximately midnight in Jerusalem over the course of two days. The first day the dead in Christ rise, bodies missing. The second day, the living in Christ are raptured in the blink of an eye. Over the course of Rosh Hashanah The Feast of Trumpets you would have from September 22-24th 2025 approximately 2 billion people vanish from planet Earth. Including all Christians and children of the world who have been marked by God. In this theory the Tribulation would end The Day of Atonement in 2032 and for His millennial reign to begin on time around March 2033. 2,000 years exactly from His ascension into Heaven. Followed by a thousand year millennial reign of Christ ending with New Heaven and New Earth in the year 7033. Seven thousand years, seven days of work for the LORD. One day of rest, 1,000 years of peace. Added to the completeness of creation is the Life of Christ, who is our life. 7000 + 33, the completion of creation, beginning of life eternal. 7033. This is all assuming for one that you can accept “nobody knows the day or hour” to be directly or indirectly to The Feast of Trumpets but we are staring at two apples and asking if one is an orange. It sure looks like an arrow. Also this is in alignment with the belief that Jesus is still fulfilling the seven Jewish Feasts. In my next post I will go over this in more detail.
Now back to “The day nobody knows”. Most Christians squirm when they hear dates because the people who have given out dates in the past have been charlatans seeking attention tarnishing the image of the church and Christ. Two things can be true at once. Yes I can give you a date of the probable rapture of the Church and yes I still don’t know when the church will be raptured. My interpreting scripture and coming to the conclusion of a most likely time period does not make it so. I am but a man, we are all but mere men and women. We are not God, yet even Jesus who is God cannot say at what hour He is going to return. Surely if God the Father knows, the LORD Jesus knows, so why does He say that He does not know and only the Father knows? That is because only the Father can send the Son to get His bride, as was Galilean wedding tradition. The Father is giving his Son a Bride, we are that bride. The begging depends on the command just as creation was founded on the Word of God.
We should not claim as a matter of fact that the LORD is coming on any specific day or hour because presumption is inequity and witchcraft. Reading scripture, creating timelines, doing math is great and I feel can be a healthy part of our urgent waiting for the LORD. However, we should not step into sin by presuming the return of the LORD Jesus is determined by anything other than the words coming out of the mouth of the Father. We do not live on bread alone, but by every word that precedes from the mouth of God. Adding on top of needing the Fathers command for commencement, the Holiday itself must be physically viewed, the light of the new moon must be seen by two witnesses. Some times the first day the moon cannot be spotted thus it has not begin and why we cannot presume a specific day and why the Feast of Trumpets is a window of time and not programable on a clock.
So yes, no one can give you an exact countdown to the rapture of the Church and neither should you. That doesn’t mean we cannot read the signs and as the wise men did follow them until we find the LORD in Bethlehem. The LORD will come, if you believe as the bible teaches in a nearly 6,000 year old Creation and as the bible teaches one day to the LORD is 1,000 years to man. Then you should believe at least that the LORD will return around 2033 to complete the week of creation. Seven days, seven thousand years including the life of Christ. Not a day, not an hour, but a bride who has her oil filled waiting on the announcement her Bridegroom has arrived. Maranatha, soon!
