What is the number one question of humanity? Why am I here? What is my purpose?
I provide you that answer now.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth in him.” – Ephesians 1:3-10
The purpose of life, is for all things to be united in Christ. What that means. As a Trinitarian it means I believe that God is One God but Three Persons. Three distinct and overlapping intertwined Persons, One God, One Crown. I believe the reason why God put in the ten commandment’s “The LORD your God is One God” because if He were to start with the LORD your God is Three, you would have concluded there are three separate God’s that all rule together. The mystery of the Trinity is that they are not separate. The mystery of the gospel is that God is Three Person’s, that mystery which began with Adam and Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” is to begin to unlock the mystery which will baffle us until glory, God is One, God is Three Persons. We are by reading hearing learning scripture unraveling the greatest mystery of God. Mainly His Trinitarian nature and it’s purpose. The intentionality of the plural-ness of God in Gen. 1:26 contrasting with the singularity of what God told Israel “The LORD your God is One” is a mystery intertwined in the purpose and unity of all existence.
Now why.
The reason why God’s Trinitarian nature answers what is the purpose of life is the end result of life itself, the eternal result. That result for those who believe is this. And the wording may be controversial so my apologies but bear with me. It appears God intends to democratize His Triune Relationship with those human beings who are being saved by the work of Jesus Christ in creation. I understand I walk the line too close to blasphemy by misunderstanding what I just said. I am not saying we are becoming God, but that which is implied is equally extreme. We are becoming Unified to God who believe and enter through Faith in Jesus Christ. We are being wed to God eternally. We who believe are transitioning from corruptibility in Eternal incorruptibility. As God can not sin, so we will not be able to sin. No human being saved by Jesus Christ and having died, will ever sin again and could not by means of a change in his eternal nature.
A rebellion was started in heaven by beings of a corruptible nature called by us as Angels. For a purpose in God’s wisdom for the creation of an incorruptible replacement to Angels, human beings.
This is why God created the Universe and made man. By creating an eternal corruptible being an Angel, God is making an incorruptible companion. Us. However as everyone knows, we live in the world made home for the Fallen Angels who failed in their rebellion against the Triune God. We live in the Fallen World yet Unredeemed in full effect. We live in a state of corruptible nature on it’s way to incorruptibility. We live in a state of time on it’s way to an eternal state without beginning and end. As Christ has said the night before He returned to His Father, as evidence of the Trinitarian purpose of life for human beings on Earth I present to you the Words of Him who IS God documented by the disciple of his right hand, John and the LORD Jesus Christs prayer over His Bride.
John 17
“When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
6 “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. 8 For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. 9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.
20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
*I really hate to add on to that, continuing after reading John 17 feels like Moses before the burning bush, “Take off your sandals Moses, for the Ground on which you step is Holy. Holy Father I understand how Holy your Words are. I continue on into the Holy of Holies to expose one more Glory of your nature and our purpose made evident in Jesus Christ.
We who believe, are to Wed God and the purpose and design of the binary nature of species both man and women male and female is a reflection of the purpose of life. Man was made by matter, the dust of the Earth and Eve was made of Adam. So too we all as mankind are made of Earth but being made into a relationship with God as One and having a nature yet separate yet One just as God is Three in One. We do not presume to say that we are becoming God for that would be a blasphemy for which Satan fell. Satan said “Eat of the fruit and you will be like God” because Satan ate of the Fruit but as a liar he did not become like God but fell from God. It is mystery like the Triune Crown, one not possible to fully see but as Paul said “I see in part now, but then will see clearly”. Even the shadow of Glory if Glorious. Even the dim reflection of the nature of God is wonderful beyond comprehension.
This is why we are called by God in Scripture, the Bride of Christ. Why in the book of Revelation the end result of history is a Wedding Supper. We who love Jesus Christ Marry Him in an Eternal unbreakable bond so thick and sure it is the bond that binds God as Three in One. We are entering the relationship of the Trinity, to be married in and adopted as a people of God for God and His Glory displayed forever and ever. A house of God, a Home of God, a people of God, One. That is the mystery of life and it’s purpose. I leave you with the Word who is God made flesh and again documented by the disciple whom He loved, namely John in his revelation given Him on the island of Patmos. The end result, the purpose made clear, the last chapter of Scripture before eternity.
Revelation 22
The River of Life
22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.
Jesus Is Coming
6 And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.”
7 “And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, 9 but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
10 And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11 Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.”
12 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.”
